New Car Seat Regulations Will Go into Effect This September
MILLVILLE - Starting Tuesday, September 1st, new car seat regulations will be taking effect in New Jersey. The new law requires children under the age of 2 and less than 30 pounds to be secured in a rear-facing car seat with a five-point harness. A child can not be in a forward-facing car seat until after their second birthday. They can not be secured in only a booster seat until they weigh at least 40 pounds. If a child is under the age of 8, no matter their weight, they need to ride in the backseat of the car and be secured in a forward facing car seat or booster seat.
