Camden County Career Institute Offering New Nail Technician Program

SICKLERVILLE - The Camden County Career Institute (CCCI) is offering a new nail technician program, beginning on Tuesday, September 8th.
The afternoon and evening program will provide enrollees with 300 hours of classroom training along with hands-on experience using all implements and performing basic techniques on patrons in a clinical salon setting.
Industry experts will give instruction on topics such as state laws, state regulations and professional ethics; safety, sanitation, and sterilization; bacteriology, chemistry, and hygiene; anatomy, physiology, nails, and nail disorders and skin and skin disorders; manicuring, pedicuring, massage theory, and aromatherapy; and nail tips, nail wraps, acrylic nails, and gel polish. Also covered are client consultations and personal presentation as well as salon business, product sales, and service. Cengage Learning’s Milady texts are used.
CCCI’s nail technician courses will meet from 3 to 7 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, and from 3 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays from September through January at the Sicklerville Campus of Camden County Technical Schools. The campus is located at 343 Berlin-Cross Keys Road in Sicklerville.
The program is approved by the New Jersey State Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling and is overseen by Camden County College’s Division of School and Community Academic Programs. Graduates will be ready to test for a manicuring license and be prepared to provide nail care and waxing services in nail or full-service salons or apply for related reception, manufacturer representative, or cosmetic sales positions.
Cost for the program is $2,400, and deferred-payment plans are possible. Financial assistance is available to qualifying students through the State of New Jersey via Camden County One Stop by calling 856.968.4200. Prospective enrollees must have a high school diploma, a GED certificate, or the equivalent. The state requires a physical prior to examination and licensing.
