Obama Authorizes Disaster Declaration for South Jersey Counties Affected by Macroburst Storm
MILLVILLE - President Obama authorized a Major Disaster Declaration for communities in South Jersey hit by the June 23rd “macroburst” storm that caused damage throughout Gloucester, Camden, Atlantic, and Burlington counties. The storm, which impacted the region with heavy rain and high winds up to 85 miles per hour, resulted in toppled trees, snapped power poles, and impassable roads throughout the area. The Major Disaster Declaration will allow for assistance for emergency work and the repair or replacement of disaster-damaged facilities, as well as assistance for preventative actions to help to reduce long-term risk to life and property.
