VIDEO: Beach Replenishment Project Reaches Sea Isle City
CAPE MAY - Cape May County beaches are getting a new look this summer and while it may inconvenience some, the federally funded project will shore up defenses just in time for the height of hurricane season. The Beach Replenishment Project began in Strathmere back in April, and is now in Sea Isle City. The United States Army Corps of Engineers is heading up the project which is expected to be completed in Ocean City later this summer. About one block of beach a day will be closed throughout the process. At its completion, residents, and visitors alike will be able to enjoy bigger beaches, but the real goal of the beach fill is the protection it provides to the businesses and homes along the shore.
