VIDEO: Possible Strike of Taj Mahal Union Workers in Atlantic City
ATLANTIC CITY - A union workers' strike seems a possibility for employees of the Taj Mahal Casino in Atlantic City. Unite-Here Local 54 workers voted Thursday to authorize their negotiation committee to call a strike, as the union continues to face off against the Taj's incoming owner, Carl Icahn, on cuts to their pensions and health insurance. According to Local 54, this is the first strike authorization vote to occur in Atlantic City since 2004. The 2004 vote led to ten-thousand union employees going on strike from seven Atlantic City properties for over a month.
