First Annual Mayor's BBQ Cook-Off a Fun Success

PLEASANTVILLE - The Bayview Summer Series presented its Endless Summer Carnival and the First Annual Mayor's BBQ Cook-Off on Saturday, August 22nd.
Roy Aungst, of Absecon, won first place for the best BBQ and claimed bragging rights as Pleasantville's first "King of the Grill." The second place prize went to Jack Dever of Northfield, who won a trophy and $100.
Other participants included Chef Charles Gilbert, Adrian Mobley, from Mo's All Occasion Catering, Howard Tibbs, of Atlantic City; Daren Dooley, of Absecon; Bill Stanley, of Pleasantville, and Iris Ruffin, of Atlantic City.
The judges were Pleasantville City Council President, Lincoln Green, Atlantic City Mayor, Don Guardian; Press of AC Entertainment Editor, Scott Cronick; Ramon Horn, of West Deptford, and Al Jefferson, of Atlantic City.
"We are so thrilled with the turnout we had for our Endless Summer Carnival and the first annual Mayor's BBQ Cook-Off," said Pleasantville Mayor, Jesse L. Tweedle, Sr. "This is about bringing the community together to meet our police officers, firemen and first responders and have families out on a great summer day to enjoy some fun."
The live entertainment featured live jazz music by Pleasantville band Cross Winds and radio host Raymond Tyler. There was also a magic show, horseshoe tournament, and carnival rides. Children of all ages enjoyed games of chance, prizes, cotton candy, popcorn, and other carnival treats.
"We estimated that over three thousand people attended the Endless Summer Carnival and first annual Mayor's BBQ throughout the entire day," said Jackie Amado-Belton, Director of Economic & Industrial Development. "Seeing the faces of the children was rewarding and positively impacted our city's community relations."
