VIDEO: Community Food Bank Makes a Difference

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP - Saturday, October 24th was Make a Difference Day and hundreds of volunteers from the Southern Branch of the Community Food Bank of New Jersey got together to assemble boxes of food for the holidays.
The boxes will be distributed to senior programs, daycare centers, homeless shelters, or anyone in need of food. Organizers say it really is a community effort.
"We made this our annual event because we have so many people in the community that really put 'community' in our name, community food bank," said Evelyn Benton, Executive Director, Community Food Bank of New Jersey, Southern Branch. "We're very blessed today to have nurses, we have Knights of Columbus, we have civic groups, school groups, all kinds of people from all different segments of the community coming in and lending a helping hand and making the holidays a little brighter for people in need."
Last year, the food bank donated 8.6 million pounds of food. That's 180,000 pounds of food a week.
