The Historic Odessa Foundation Features Literary Exhibit

ODESSA - The Historic Odessa Foundation invites guests to a literature-inspired exhibit of Lewis Carroll’s most famous classic, published in 1865.
The Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland exhibit will feature several scenes, inspired from the classic, in one of the Historic Odessa Foundation’s properties. Alice is the newest addition to several literary works to have been recreated at Historic Odessa over the past thirty years. Previous recreations include the literary works of Charles Dickens, Louisa May Alcott, Jane Austen, and Beatrix Potter.
The properties will be open during the 2015 Holiday Season and several exhibits and tours will take place to honor the 150th anniversary of Carroll’s classic.
Storybook Trees Exhibit
Christmas trees decorated by local families, schools, and organizations will be on display, showcasing books and works of children’s literature. This event is free with the cost of admission.

Holiday School Tours
The Holiday School Tours are offered on Friday, November 13th through Thursday, December 31st.
Candlelight Tours
Candlelight Tours of the Holiday Exhibit are available on Thursday, December 3rd and Thursday, December 10th  from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Additionally, a Curator Candlelight Tour will take place on Thursday, December 17th from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The cost for admission is $15 per person and reservations are required.

Festive Foods/Hearth Cooking Demonstration
Enjoy watching 18th century kitchen preparation during the holiday season on Saturday, December 12th and Saturday, December 19th  from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Cost to attend the Festive Foods/Hearth Cooking Demonstration is free with the cost of admission.
Holiday Highlights from Christmas Past Photography Exhibit
The Historic Odessa Foundation presents photographic highlights from past holiday exhibits on Friday, November 13th to Thursday, December 31st. Cost to this event is free with the cost of admission.

Curator Christmas Exhibit Presentation
Discover the inspiration behind the Christmas exhibit, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, from the curator who created the festive display. Nov. 12, 7 to 8:30 p.m. $15 per person, reservations required.
Fairy Tale Time
The Historic Odessa Foundation and Corbit-Calloway Library welcome children and parents for a reading of excerpts from “Alice in Wonderland,” cookie decorating, and a tour of the holiday exhibit on Wednesday, December 2nd from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. for Preschoolers and 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. for kindergarten to fifth grade. Admission to this event is free with reservations required.

Illustrate Alice
Access the museum after hours and create an illustration directly from the Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland Christmas exhibit to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Lewis Carroll’s classic. All art materials will be provided and the event will take place on Sunday, December 13th from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Admission to Illustrate Alice is $15 per person and reservations are required.

Mad Hatter Tea Party
A children’s afternoon tea party inspired by the foundation’s holiday exhibit, “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.” Kids will tour the exhibit, have tea, and decorate a Queen of Hearts cookie. Kids are also invited to wear their favorite hats. The Mad Hatter Tea Party will take place on Sunday, December 13th from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Admission is $5 per person and reservations are required.
