CUMBERLAND COUNTY –  The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and the Traumatic Loss Coalition will collaborate to host this year’s Out of the Darkness Community Walk for Cumberland County. The walk will take place on Sunday, October 18th at the Cumberland County Fairgrounds. Registration for the walk will begin at 9:00 a.m. and the walk will begin at 10:00 a.m.
Health, environmental, and historical factors like mental health conditions, access to lethal means (including drugs and firearms), as well as a family history of mental health conditions can increase a person’s risk for suicide. The Out of the Darkness Walk will provide funding, education, and raise awareness for suicide prevention.
Participants are encouraged to walk with their pets at this pet-friendly walk and interested participants may make a $10 donation at the PAWS for Prevention table, where they will be entered for a chance to receive a doggie gift basket and receive an American Foundation for Suicide Prevention doggie bandana.
For information about sponsoring the event or donating items, contact Ashleigh Huff at 856.459.3082 or send an email to ashleighhu@co.cumberland.nj.us.
