WILDWOOD - The U.S. Coast Guard says the owner of a Cape May County home that washed into the bay during last week's storm is responsible for the cost of salvaging it. NJ.com reports the State Department of Environmental Protection will employ a contractor to remove the structure from the water. The cost of the removal is unclear. Fortunately, no one was home when the house was swept off its pilings Saturday, but neighbors say the house was a structurally unsound nuisance before it made its way into the bay. The Coast Guard is warning boaters to be on the lookout for debris like the house, which may be under the waterline or at the surface.
