Atlantic County to Address Abandoned Properties Problem

ATLANTIC CITY – Atlantic County is seeking proposals for the implementation of a countywide registration program to address the problem of abandoned properties in the area.
The properties are in default and are not being properly maintained which is driving down property values. Municipal officials and community members attended a presentation in September that was provided by the county. The presentation focused on the possibility of a countywide registration program and those in attendance expressed their interest.
Additionally, the Atlantic County Executive, Dennis Levinson, directed the Atlantic County Improvement Authority to issue a Request for Proposals. The deadline for proposals has been set for Friday, October 23rd.
“Once we receive the proposals and decide on a vendor, we will prepare an ordinance that will be shared with each municipality," said Levinson. "They may then choose to adopt an ordinance and participate. This is an outstanding shared services opportunity.”
