MILLVILLE - The National Division of Highway Traffic Safety developed, "Put the Brakes on Fatalities Day" and Atlantic County is adding their own special touch to the day.
“Put the Brakes on Fatalities Day is coming up this Saturday," said Sheriff Balles, Atlantic County. "Started by the National Division of Highway Traffic Safety. Atlantic County is putting their own touch to it, by offering free five point inspections at service stations across the county. We want to make sure that the vehicles are safe that you’re driving in, and you also drive safely. You could be driving as safe as possible, when you hit your brakes and you have no brakes, you’re going to get into a collision.”
Eleven auto shops, tire centers, and dealerships will be taking anybody in who would like a five point inspection on their car, to make sure you’re traveling safely.
"If they find if your brakes are bad or something like that, they’re not ripping off your inspection sticker," said Sherriff Balles. "They’re a mechanic, there’s not a police officer in there that’s watching what’s going on. You know, it is something that these service stations in our community as a public relations type deal, and you know, to give back to the community.”
