MILLVILLE - It's a shellfish shut down! Due to the storm, the State Department of Environmental Protection is shutting down state waters for shellfish harvesting. The order takes effect at sunset because of the heavy rainfall South Jersey is experiencing. The storm water runoff can carry harmful bacteria into the shellfish beds, so necessary precautions must be taken. The department is going to continue to monitor the storms and, if the shellfish beds are not affected, officials say the shutdown order will be immediately revoked.
