VIDEO: Miss America 2016 Crowned in Atlantic City

ATLANTIC CITY - The crowds were deafening last night at Boardwalk Hall, but none more so than for the hometown girl Miss New Jersey.
The 52 contestants who have been competing all week were quickly widdled down to 15, 10, and then 5 all in pursuit of the crown.
The pageant featured Chris Harrison and Brooke Burke-Charvet as hosts, as well as formerly de-crowned Miss America 1984 Vanessa Williams and the iconic Bert Parks song There She Is, which hasn’t been played at the pageant in 5 years.
In the end, it came down to Miss Georgia Betty Cantrell, an opera singer and student at Mercer University, who was named the 95th Miss America. And while Miss New Jersey didn’t advance to the finals, she walked away with the quality of life award and the experience of a lifetime.
