VIDEO: Miss America Pageant Reigns in Atlantic City


ATLANTIC CITY - The Miss America Pageant was brought home to Atlantic City this year.
Lindsey Giannini, Miss New Jersey won the Quality of Life Award and a six thousand dollar scholarship. The scholarship is awarded for outstanding community service and dedication to a platform. Giannini is educating people on the dangers of distracted driving. This 21-year-old Hammonton native was crowned Miss New Jersey in June. To see if she'll be crowned Miss America and the winner of over 50-thousand dollars in scholarship money, you'll have to wait til Sunday.
The events surrounding the Miss America Pageant will continue leading up to the big day on Sunday. Tomorrow evening the contestants will walk in the second annual miracle mile. Starting at 6:00 p.m. at Boardwalk Hall. They will walk down the boardwalk to raise funds and awareness for the Children's Miracle Network. Saturday is the traditional "Show us your Shoes" parade where the contestants ride down the boardwalk. Each titleholder's footwear represents something special about their home state. The parade steps off at 5:00 p.m. at the Garden Pier.
Sunday is the big day as the 52 women take to the Miss America stage live on national television. The show starts at 9:00 p.m. with the crowning expected to take place just before 11:00 p.m.
