ATLANTIC COUNTY - A bat in Atlantic County has tested positive for rabies and is the eighth case found in Atlantic County this year. The bat was discovered on the 500 block of Revere Way in Galloway. This is Galloway's first case of the year. Rabies is a viral disease that is often carryed by small animals including bats, raccons, foxes, and cats. The Atlantic County Division of Public Health encourges all residents to report any animal bites and to vaccinate your pets against the disease. Free rabies vaccinations are given monthly at the Atlantic County Animal Shelter in Pleasantville.
