VIDEO: Local Nine Year Old Hosts Coat Drive

BERLIN - Bradley Heusser, a 4th grader at Berlin Community School is hosting a coat drive.
“It’s like a coat collection that I’m having on my street, on the driveway," Bradley Heusser, Berlin. "I’m going to collect coats, all sizes, winter coats, and I want to collect them because, so people have coats for the winter.”
The nine-year-old is determined on collecting as many jackets as he can at his one-day coat collection for people in the area that are in need. All of the coats he collects will be donated through Warm Coats, Warm Hearts, with the help of Burlington Coat Factory, and distributed through shelters across South Jersey.
“Why I wanted to do it for one day, and for people to come out and donate the coats, so he’d be able to get that experience of meeting the people that are donating, and get an all around good feeling," said Gwyneth Heusser, Mother.
With the help of his mother, Bradley made a flyer and asked his school for help in donations. With full support, the school set up places for students and parents to drop off jackets if they can’t make it to the collection tomorrow morning.
“For the past five years, character education has been just as important as our academics here at BCS," said Kristen Martello, Interim Superintendent for the Berlin School District. "We’re very proud of Bradley, that he’s taken service learning to the next level, and is able to give back to his community.”
The coat drive is located at 223 West Broad Street in Berlin. Come by and donate a coat to keep someone warm during the season of giving.
