VIDEO: Millville Fire Department Demonstrates Fire Safety to Local Children

MILLVILLE - Children at Mary's Little Lamb Academy were getting a lesson in fire safety and some even got an unintentional shower!
The Millville Fire Department holds a session with the kids annually so that they can see what it is that firemen do, learn fire safety tips, and even test out the fire hose.
"The firefighters love to be in the community, deal with the kids, spend time with them," said Captain Christine Tonetta. "It's something we like to do, anytime we can do it. And they love it. The older kids see it as a time to get out of the classroom. The younger kids, they love it, they love coming out, playing with the fire hose, seeing the truck, things of that nature."
Captain Tonetta said they try to do demonstrations at schools like this as much as they can, but parents are also welcome to schedule a meeting and bring their kids down to the station, at any time, to check it out and see the firefighters.
"They love it," said Tangeleke Bailey, Teacher. "Anytime they get to see their heroes up close and personal, have them talk to them, see them get dressed, and see the stuff that they do. It really does a big thing for them. They talk about it for days afterwards."
