VIDEO: Local Mall Drops Fee to Visit Its Santa Attraction

CHERRY HILL - The Cherry Hill Mall decided to make buying a photo package for its attraction "Adventure to Santa" mandatory, but angry parents caused management to change its mind.
The attraction is one of 12 across the country that features characters from Shrek and a virtual sleigh ride that ends with Santa Claus. It debuted last year free of charge. But this year the price started at $35 and could go up to $75.
Families aren’t too happy about this new pricing.
“You go to a mall and you’re going to spend a lot of money buying Christmas presents and you take your kids with you and you want them to just sit on Santa’s lap and say, ‘I want for Christmas…Transformers,” and you’re going to have to pay $35 for that, I think it’s absolutely crazy," said Liz Bell, Mother from Marlton.
Bell has a four-year-old son and she was shocked to hear the mall she would take her son to visit Santa was doing this.
“I mean, people who have kids can’t afford that when they’re already buying Christmas presents," said Bell. "And I think something like the Cherry Hill Mall that’s trying to be more upscale should lend itself to seeing Santa, letting everybody see Santa no matter how much money you have.”
After hearing from many angry parents, according to mall management, kids can enjoy “Adventure to Santa” for free without having to purchase a photo package once again.
