Vineland High School Academic Team to Host Third Annual Academic Bowl

VINELAND - The Vineland High School Academic Team will host its Third Annual Invitational Academic Bowl on Thursday, November 19th.
The team has participated in “brain brawls” for several years. The competition involves a one hour contest which features questions in history, literature, geography, math, and "intellectual trivia." The questions used during the academic bowl are selected from both professional sources and are submitted by staff members from both competing schools.
Teams will be equipped with a pencil and paper only as no calculators are permitted. The team will consist of four seniors and four juniors, two of which will compete in the first half and two in the second.
"Our competitions with Millville, and other schools, have always been interesting and popular with the students and people in the community," said Vicki Yeager, Vineland High School Academic Team Coach. "It gives us an opportunity to showcase the outstanding students we have in our schools. Last year we thought it was time to start hosting our own invitational, so we could have other area schools share the spotlight - including local television - with us."
The competition team includes Jordan Belvett, Greg Hughes, Justin Malme, Ian Simek, Travis Harrell, Frank DiGiorgio, Will Reichard, Hannah Joyce, Sarah Gibney, and Sejal Menghani.
The Academic Bowl will take place at the auditorium of Vineland High School against Atlantic City High School and is free and open to the public. The event will be recorded by VPS TV and aired on Comcast Channel 9 and Verizon FiOS Channel 41 at several times throughout the week of Monday, November 23rd.
