Cumberland County Clerk Offers Discounts to VeteransPosted:
BRIDGETON – Cumberland County Clerk, Celeste M. Riley, has authorized her office to give county veterans discounts through the week of November 9th.
The discounts will include passport photos as well as credit card convenience fees and will be available to both active and veteran service members. Passport photos will be offered for $5 with proof of military service and the convenience fee will be waived for those who choose to pay by credit or debit card.
The Clerk's Office will be open on Monday, November 9th through Friday, November 13th, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with late evening hours on Tuesday until 7:00 p.m. However, the office will be closed on Wednesday, November 11th in observation of Veterans Day. Applicants interested in United States passports must provide multiple documents that provide evidence of United States citizenship, such as a certified birth certificate and valid driver's license.
Residents who plan on traveling in the near future are encouraged to apply four-to-six weeks before traveling. By applying early, a passport applicant can avoid additional fees. Veterans are also encouraged to record their DD-214 discharge papers while they visit the Clerk's Office. This is a free service where the document is kept on record in the event that the DD-214 is ever lost or damaged.
"This is one small way of showing our appreciation for all that our service men and women do to protect our great nation," said Celeste M. Riley, Cumberland County Clerk.
