Family of Former Washington Township High School Teacher Announces Scholarship

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP - Washington Township High School gathered on Wednesday, November 4th to honor the memory of a beloved former math teacher.
Tony Bucca passed away on January 24th at the age of 61 after battling with cancer. Members of the Bucca family joined staff members and the District to celebrate Bucca’s life. The Bucca family dedicated a bench in memory of the former teacher which will be placed in the 9/10 wing of the school. In addition to the bench, the family committed to a $20,000 scholarship in Bucca’s name that will provide a math-based scholarship totaling $1,000  to a Washington Township High School senior every year for the next 20 years.
“My father loved this staff and this school,” said Bucca’s daughter, Lauren Krupa, a guidance counselor at Grenloch Terrace Early Childhood Center. “He loved his job. He loved this district.  You were all a family to him, a second family to my brother and I during his illness. Thank you for joining us in honoring him.”
