Jewish Family Service Announces Annual Turkey Drive

MARGATE – The Jewish Family Service (JFS) will be holding a food drive on Friday, November 13th.
The JFS Annual Turkey Drive raises funds and collects food items to provide holiday meals to local families in need.
The food drive will assist in re-stocking the agency food pantry with Thanksgiving day meals. JFS is asking shoppers to provide them with holiday items such as stuffing, mashed potatoes, and canned vegetables.  Additionally, essential items such as canned meals, instant oatmeal, canned fruit, jelly, canned chicken, and soups are always needed. The food drive will take place at ACME in Somers Point on 212 New Road from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Both JFS and ACME will offer pre-packaged bags that include holiday essentials so that shoppers can pick up a bag at ACME’s entrance and checkout.
Volunteers are also needed for this event to welcome shoppers, request donations, and collect food for the pantry. Several shifts are available to accommodate the volunteers schedules, including 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Additional volunteers are needed at JFS from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. to stock donated items.
To learn more about the Jewish Family Service or to make a $30 donation, visit their website at or mail checks to JFS at 607 North Jerome Avenue, Margate, NJ 08402.
