United Way Appoints Three New Local Board Members

VINELAND - United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey appointed three new members to its Local Board.
The United Way’s Local Boards include leaders in their fields who represent the business community, organized labor, and public and nonprofit sectors. The organization works to improve education, empower working adults, and build foundations of financial stability.
Shirley Bertacchi, Owner of Dynamic Fitness; Ken Pustizzi, Sr., President and CEO of SNJ Today; and Jackie Galbiati, Vice President of Academic Affairs at Cumberland County College, were all appointed to contribute their efforts in support of United Way’s Impact Fund. The purpose of the fund is to improve education, financial stability, and health as well as ensure that people are able to meet their basic needs such as food, shelter, and safety.
In addition to the three new members, the Local Board also appointed new officers for the 2015-2016 fiscal year. The new officers include Local Board Chair Tracy Swan, Senior Project Administrator at The Walter Rand Institute for Public Affairs, Rutgers University of Camden; Vice Chair of Impact will be Michelle Marshall, Assistant Vice President of Oncology and Women’s Services at Inspira Health Network; and Vice Chair of Resource Development will be Tom Merighi, Jr., Owner of Merhigi’s Savoy Inn.
“Volunteers, particularly members of the local Board, play a crucial role in helping United Way change lives and strengthen communities – one child, one adult, and one family at a time,” said John Emge, United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey’s Vice President and Regional Executive Director. “We are grateful to work with these dynamic business and community leaders to build a brighter future for our neighbors in need.  Together, we can drive measurable, lasting impact that none of us can achieve alone.”
