Washington Township High School Graduate Inducted into Athletic Hall of Fame

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP - The Shippensburg University Athletic Hall of Fame inducted its 2015 Class on Friday, October 16th.
Among the inductees was point guard, scorer, and four-year letter winner for the Shippensburg University’s women’s basketball team, Jennifer Scaffidi Grassel.  Grassel played for the team from 2001 to 2005 and ranks among the school’s all-time offensive leaders in several categories. As a starting player for the University’s team for four years, Grassel ranked eighth on the school’s scoring list with 1,583 career points. Grassel also graduated with a 79.4 percent career accuracy from the free-throw line which earned her a second place ranking in school history at the time of her graduation. Grassel currently sits sixth all-time at the University.
In addition to Grassel’s scoring record, she is also the only player in Shippensburg history to record 100 or more assists in all four of her competitive seasons. Having concluded her career at the University with 481 assists, Grassel managed to rank third for most assists in the school’s history.
Prior to being inducted into the University’s Hall of Fame, the 1,000-point scorer and two year captain of Washington Township High School’s Girls Basketball Team was also inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2008.
Grassel graduated Shippensburg in 2005 with a degree in mathematics and secondary education before earning her master’s degree in organizational development and leadership in 2011. While working as a high school mathematics teacher at Washington Township, Grassel balances her family life with husband Mike and daughter Kailie, while maintaining a position as assistant varsity coach for the school. Grassel and her husband are expecting another baby in March.
