Lourdes Employee Receives Sister M. Elizabeth Corry Award

CAMDEN - Deborah Bokas, MSW, director of social services at Lourdes’ Osborn Family Health Center, is the recipient of this year’s 2015 Sister M. Elizabeth Corry OSF Award. The award is a high honor provided to a Lourdes Health System employee each year and is named after the former president of Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center, who passed away in February 2015.
During her leadership, Sister Corry initiated many of the services that the medical center is known for today — including cardiology, organ transplantation, acute physical rehabilitation and high-risk maternity care.
Bokas was nominated by Osborn nurse practitioner Jessica Burns and is one of 17 employees who were nominated throughout the health system.
The honor is awarded to those who demonstrate a core value of “justice.” Bokas was nominated due to her compassionate care as well as her community outreach efforts, which include Osborn’s "Reach Out and Read" program; backpack, prom gown and pajama drives; and the Osborn used-clothing boutique.
“I am fortunate to have worked with colleagues who have helped me during my 31 years here,” said  Bokas. “I was lucky to have known Sister Elizabeth Corry and had a career in her shadow and [have] been mentored by all the people she mentored."
