Business Owner Partners with Mennies Elementary to Collect Food for Needy Families

VINELAND - Local business owner Sal Gaetano collaborated with Mennies Elementary School to help feed the less fortunate this holiday season.
The collaboration resulted in 20 boxes of food being donated to those in need in the Vineland area.
Gaetano, owner of The Franklin Insurance Adjusters, connected with fifth-grade Mennies teacher Rita Santoro to “adopt” the families in need. In addition, Gaetano ran a campaign that donated a percentage of profits received from insurance claims to purchasing food.
Twenty pre-selected families from the school received the food. The idea behind the drive, which is currently in its fifth year, came from Gaetano’s daughter, Nicole, who is now in eighth grade at the Vineland school. Nicole noticed students sneaking parts of their lunch home for dinner.
"The families were very grateful," said Santoro. "We're so happy Sal decided to partner with our school. This really was a group effort."
