VIDEO: Hundreds Gather to Pay Respect to New Jersey State Trooper Eli McCarsonPosted:
GLASSBORO - Hundreds of law enforcement from several states joined the family and friends of the late New Jersey State Trooper Eli McCarson on Wednesday, December 23, to pay their respects at a ceremony held at Rowan University.
Many in the large group were hugging and consoling each other as they wiped tears away from their faces upon exiting the university's Pfleeger Concert Hall where the funeral and viewing took place.
Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New York and, of course, New Jersey, officers were on the scene through the rain to honor their fellow officer.
A sea of umbrellas lined the pathway where the casket holding 30-year-old McCarson would travel down on this gloomy day.
State Trooper McCarson was responding to a domestic violence call when his vehicle crashed into an electric utility pole on December 17 in Quinton Township, trapping him in the car.
Once the Gloucester County native was freed from the vehicle he was taken to Salem Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
McCarson graduated in February and was working out of the Woodstown station at the time of his death.
He was just recently married in September.
Following the funeral, McCarson was laid to rest at Hill Crest Memorial Park in Washington Township.
