Atlantic County Bar Associations Young Lawyers Division Announces Lawyer of the Month

ATLANTIC CITY - The Atlantic County Bar Association’s (ACBA) Young Lawyers Division has announced this month’s Lawyer of Atlantic County (LOAC).
Sheila F. Hughes, of the Cooper Levenson law firm, received the honor.
Hughes is an associate at Cooper Levenson’s Atlantic City office where she handles commercial and business law matters under the guidance of the firm’s commercial litigation partners.
Hughes also works with the firm’s maritime law group assisting clients involved in commercial fishing, recreational boating, marina, and marine construction industries on a wide range of issues related to maritime law and litigation. Hughes’s resume also includes her work as a judicial law clerk for Atlantic County Judge Nelson Johnson.
LOAC was founded by the ACBA Young Lawyers Division and serves “to foster a deeper, more personal connection among members of the Atlantic County Bar," by featuring a new attorney each month.
Hughes has been making a name for herself on both the local and international levels. She has become involved in several projects, such as the For the Military Assistance Project, for which she raised money through a charity climb of Africa's famed Mount Kilimanjaro to support the effort.
The ACBA Executive Board member also plans on rowing, hiking, and swimming in the Rogue River in Oregon this coming summer (Saturday, August 6 through Wednesday, August 10, 2016) in order to raise funds for legal and housing services for Philadelphia veterans and military personnel.
Hughes became involved in the Atlantic County Bar Association when she volunteered to help with a children’s holiday party as a law clerk. The honoree is now on her way to becoming president of the ACBA Executive Board for the 2019-2020 term.
Hughes is also one of the founding members of a social professional networking organization called SoPro, AC.
