Several North Wildwood Police Awarded for Outstanding Service

NORTH WILDWOOD - North Wildwood Police Department Chief Matthew Gallagher presented several awards to officers at the department’s annual Christmas Party last week.
The awards presented include several Life Saving Awards, Certificates of Commendations, and Honorable Service pins.
Life Savings Award:

  • Officer Patrick Flynn, Officer Justin Robinson, and Officer Ryan Madden assisted an unresponsive victim at the Birds of Paradise Motel on Saturday, August 15.



  • Officer Mark Santiago, Officer Patrick Flynn, and Officer Kyle Zaleski assisted a victim in cardiac arrest on the 200 block of North New York Avenue on Monday, August 31.



  • Officer Kyle Zaleski assisted a victim in cardiac arrest on East Marina Court on Sunday, September 13.



  • Officer Mark Santiago and Officer Kyle Zaleski were among several officers who assisted an unresponsive victim in the ocean at 12th Avenue on Tuesday, July 28. Certificate of Commendations were issued to Sergeant Brian Harkins, Detective Daniel Schules and Detective Justin Melo for this incident as well.


Certificate of Commendations

  • Officer Mark Santiago, Officer Bryan Skill, and Officer Daniel Hartman for their actions at a multiple vehicle accident on the Beach Creek Bridge on Sunday, February 21.

  • Officer Jerald Garriott for his actions involving a swimmer in distress, as a part of the department's Water Patrol Unit, in Hereford Inlet on Saturday, July 25.

  • Officer Mark Santiago and Officer Kyle Zaleski for their actions in an attempted save of a juvenile in the water in Hereford Inlet on Thursday, July 30.


Honorable Service (pins provided for every five years of service)

  • 5 years – Sergeant Matthew Mattera, Sergeant Katherine Flounders, Detective Michael Griser, and Detective Daniel Schules.

  • 10 years – Captain Kevin Tolan and Officer Clifford Massie.

  • 15 years – Lieutenant William Etsell.
