Our columnist offers a sneak peek at next year’s events and plans.
Though we aren’t through with 2015 yet, we in Main Street Vineland have been busy planning events and programs for next year. That has been taking place in all our teams—Organization, Design, Promotions, Economic Restructuring, and our Millennial Advisory Board—as well as our Board of Directors.
While we’re working out the details and have some events still in the discussion stage, we want to give you a peek at some of the events we have in store for you.
Volunteer Appreciation Night (Thursday, April 7th) — While we take the opportunity later in the year to recognize some of our outstanding volunteers, we want to recognize all volunteers who give their time to help us throughout the year. From those who help plan the events at the team and subcommittee levels to those from various organizations that come out to help us plant or do beautification projects. This will be the time to do that. Details about time and location will be forthcoming.
Spring Clean-Up and Planting Days (Saturday, April 23th and 30th) — With spring being the time of renewal, we take the opportunity to plant flowers at the mini-parks and other downtown focal points, preparing the areas the week before by doing a clean-up. We will also help commemorate Arbor Day by planting some trees. Come out and join us! Again, more details to follow.
Cruise Down Memory Lane (Saturday, June 11th; rain date: Sunday, June 12th) — For the 24th year, millions of dollars worth of vintage and exotic cars will line Landis Avenue for this iconic event. Sponsored by Main Street Vineland, it’s organized by the Cruise Down Memory Lane Committee. If you’re a fan of classic cars, fins, chrome, and muscle cars this event’s for you!
Fall Clean-Up and Planting Days (Saturday, September 17th and 24)—Just as in spring, we add seasonal color to the mini-parks and other locations downtown, preparing the areas the week before by doing a clean-up. We can use your help here, too!
Wedding Weekend (Saturday, September 24th) — Are you planning to tie the knot with that special someone? Well, you won’t want to miss this! For the sixth consecutive year, we’ll provide the ultimate shopping experience for brides and groom, with a chance to win some great prizes. You’ll see why downtown Vineland’s a destination for wedding planning.
A Taste of Vineland & Volunteer Recognition Event (Wednesday, October 19th) — You can enjoy a vast array of delicious signature dishes from Vineland’s finest restaurants at this event, which has been a big draw. Now in its sixth year, the event will feature, for the second time, a chance to recognize our Volunteers of the Year. It raises money for our good work and is a tribute to volunteers who have stood out in helping us.
Holiday Parade (Saturday, November 26th; rain date: Sunday, November 27th) — This is a downtown Vineland tradition and one of our largest events of the year. Young and old alike look forward to it. Look for lots more information as the time gets closer.
We’re also working on some other events that are still tentative or still in the planning stages:
We want to continue working in conjunction with the Adopt-a-Block program to do regular monthly clean-ups downtown and are looking for individuals and organizations to help us. We’re also discussing monthly Fourth Friday events, including cash mobs at various downtown businesses.
During the holiday shopping season, make downtown Vineland your destination for buying that special gift, as well as for fun all year round. Save money on gasoline, avoid the long lines at the malls and shopping centers, and also enjoy the events we have in town.
