Southwest Councils Annual Tree of Hope Celebrates Addiction Recovery

VINELAND - Over sixty community members gathered at the Southwest Council’s Second Annual Tree of Hope on Monday, December 7th to celebrate their addiction recovery.
“The process of recovery is supported through relationships and social networks,” said Joe Williams, Executive Director and CEO, of The Southwest Council, Inc. "This often involves family members who become the champions of their loved one’s recovery. This statement was proved by the essential support of the community and the family members who participated. The support of peers and friends is also crucial in engaging and supporting individuals in recovery and it was overwhelming to see so much support.”
The purpose of the event was to recognize individuals who have overcome addiction while commemorating those who have lost their lives to the disease.
"The Tree of Hope is a fundraising event designed not only to raise awareness that addiction is an illness touching many lives, but as a reminder that recovery is possible and is experienced by many,” said Williams.
