CAMDEN - Subaru of America, Inc. officially breaks ground in Camden, the home of its new national headquarters.
“Let me be the first to welcome Subaru of America to its new home in Camden,” said Denise M. Morrison, President & CEO of Campbell Soup Company.
Hundreds gathered to do just that, welcome the company that has called South Jersey home for many years to its new location in Camden.
“We are absolutely thrilled to be moving our national headquarters to Camden, New Jersey,” said Thomas J. Doll, President & COO of Subaru of America Inc.
This move will bring all of Subaru’s facilities spread across South Jersey to one big location right across the street from Campbell Soup in the city, and Congressman Donald Norcross couldn’t be happier.
“It’s good to see Subaru has had such a commitment to that continuous improvement of staying here in South Jersey," said Norcross. "Because they understand the fact of what we have here in South Jersey.”
And according to Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno, what we have is hope.
“What is hope? Hope is belief that tomorrow will be better than today," said Guadagno. "Well, ladies and gentleman what you see here in this room right now, is hope. It’s not just the 600 jobs, it’s not just the $167 million worth of economic benefit.”
And Mayor Dana Redd is excited for what’s to come for her city.
“So what I would say to all of you today as I am very elated, Camden is rising," said Redd. "Camden is rising. It is Camden’s time. Camden is rising.”
The new Subaru headquarters is expected to open by the end of 2017, just in time for Subaru to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
