VIDEO: All Aboard The Santa Express in South Jersey

CAPE MAY - This holiday season the Cape May Seashore Lines is offering the 20th annual Santa Express.
“The Santa Express is Christmas holiday fun for the entire family," said Tony Macrie, President and General Manager, Cape May Seashore Lines. "The trains are all decorated for Christmas. We have Christmas carols playing in every train.”
It wouldn’t be the Santa Express without a visit from the big man himself, Santa Claus. The round trip ticket takes you from Tuckahoe to Richland and back again. Two hours of Christmas fun for the entire family.
“The response to use one word is incredible," said Macrie. "We have passengers coming out who are bringing their children and they came as children so it really is a part of people’s Christmas tradition.”
The Santa Express runs every Saturday and Sunday until Christmas and next week The Santa Starlight Express begins on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
“There’s nothing better than seeing a child who not only is enjoying his first train ride, but Santa Claus at the same time," said Macrie. "It’s like winning the kiddie lottery.”
The station prides itself in trying their hardest to satisfy each customer. To guarantee that they hand surveys to learn how they can better serve the riders on board.
“For many, many years we had people say to us, ‘Why not run a train before Christmas and New Year,’ children are off from school, some businesses are closed,” said Macrie.
They’re listening to their customers and for the first time people can take a ride on the Winter Express on Tuesday, December 29th.
“We don’t want to let anybody down, especially kids," said Macrie. "We have seen kids crying because they couldn’t get on board. But we make arrangements if possible to accommodate everyone.”
In fact the Santa Express is so popular it’s sold out! So to accommodate more people the Cape May Seashore Lines says to turn to their website because they plan on adding more train cars by the end of next week.
