Washington Township High School Boys Soccer Team Earns Prestigious Honor


WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – The Washington Township High School 2015 state championship boys soccer team have been selected for a prestigious honor.

The team has been named one of the best in the country and will be honored during the Fifth Annual MaxPreps Soccer Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard. The team is one of ten schools being recognized during the 2015 to 2016 MaxPreps Tour of Champions, out of 14,000 high schools that include a varsity boys soccer team program across the United States.

The boys will be honored with the official Army National Guard national ranking trophy by MaxPreps and Army National Guard representatives on Friday, December 18th, at 6:00 p.m. in the school’s Investors Bank Performing Arts Center. The 2015 Minutemen earned their second consecutive and all time NJSIAA Group IV state championship with a 1-0 win over West Orange. Further wins this season included the South Jersey Group IV championship over Eastern, which is the programs second sectional title in a row and third all-time. They also won Olympic Conference American Division championship for the fourth consecutive year.

Washington Township students who attend the trophy presentation will be granted free admission to the WTHS boys basketball home opener versus Cherry Hill West High School at 7:00 p.m., following the ceremony.

“Our soccer program, under the direction of Shane Snyder, has developed into one of the finest in the nation,” said Kevin Murphy, WTHS Athletic Director. “Coach Snyder has helped our student-athletes find the best within themselves, while bringing out the best in others. Our Washington Township community has played a large role in this honor.  We are thankful for the support of our youth soccer programs.”
