HAMMONTON - A Hammonton soldier who was killed in Iraq, is being laid to rest on Saturday, December 5th.
Private Christopher Castaneda was killed in a non-combat incident at a military facility in Iraq on November 19th.
19-year-old Castaneda graduated from Hammonton High School in 2014 and was part of the Army's 10th mountain division, light infantry, based out of Fort Drum, New York.
Castaneda received multiple awards and decorations during his all too brief time in the Army, including the Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, and Army Achievement Medal.
Services will be held Saturday, December 5th at 1:00 p.m. at the Carnesale Funeral Home in Hammonton with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. He will then be laid to rest at the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery.
