SALEM - Officials are currently investigating a nuclear plant that shut down unexpectedly. According to a PSE and G Nuclear Spokesman, the generator indicated there was a problem with the reactor after it came in service. He adds the plant had begun sending electricity to the regional power grid at 6:35 a.m., Monday morning, but automatically shut down again at 1:50 p.m. the same day. Just last month, the reactor went off-line, after its generator shut down because of an alarm. It was determined that rainwater had leaked through the gaskets on the electrical system. The cause of the problem is currently under investigation.
