VIDEO : Camden Medical Center Hosts Lab Program

CAMDEN - A team dedicated to teaching new technology across the country made its way to a South Jersey Medical Center.
Hospital staff gathered on Wednesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in Camden to participate in the Abiomed Mobile Learning Lab program.
The lab on wheels offers interactive simulations and scenarios presented by a team of Abiomed trainers.
The team trains medical personnel on use of the "impella"—the world's smallest heart pump.
"It's used to help patients that are in cardiogenic shock and it also helps patients when we're doing a high-risk PCI on angioplasty. It helps maintain their cardiac output throughout the whole procedure when they might not be able to do so on their own," said Michelle Winters, Invasive Cardiology Manager at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center.
Health officials from Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center say learning programs like these help them continue to deliver cutting-edge therapies to their patients, right here in South Jersey.
