Cumberland County Day of Play Set for Next Month

Cumberland County, NJ – Families are invited to join local organizations at the first ever Cumberland County Day of Play on August 6th from 2 to 4 p.m.
The event, which encourages parents, guardians, and grandparents to take the time to play outdoors with their children, will take place at four locations, including Waltman Park in Millville, Sunset Lake in Bridgeton, Magnolia Park in Vineland, and the Charles Sheppard Community Center in Commercial Township.
“Outdoor play is very important for all children’s growth and development,” said Kimberly Friddell, Executive Director of Inspira Health Network’s IMPACT Program. “Beginning in infancy, play allows children to learn to problem solve, develop social connections and the physical activity also provides many health benefits. And for adults, play provides stress relief and is a way to bond with our children.”
This technology-free day offers activities for infants, toddlers, and school-aged children. Activities include: bubble play, sand bucket relay, treasure hunt, parachute activities, volleyball and kickball games, and more.
Cumberland County Day of Play is sponsored by the Cumberland County Council for Young Children, in partnership with Rutgers Child Care Resource and Referral Agency-Strengthening Families Initiative, FamCare, and the Family Success Centers of Bridgeton, Commercial Township, Millville, and Vineland.
Funding is provided by the New Jersey Department of Children and Families.
