Salem County to Offer First Time Crusaders Award

SALEM, NJ - Freeholder Bob Vanderslice, Chair of Health and Human Services and the Salem County Office of Disability Services, and the Salem County Office of Disability Services, has announced the first ever Crusader's Award.
The criteria for selecting reward recipients will be the degree and durability of their positive impact on the lives of persons with disabilities within Salem County. The Salem County Office of Disability Services Advisory Board Members will be select the recipients.
“Salem County has many individuals, businesses, facilities, and organizations that continually do for others. The county is honored to offer this first-ever award to recognize those who have made a positive impact in the lives of those with special needs,” stated Julie Acton, Freeholder Director.
The Crusader's Award will have two different categories:
CITIZENSHIP AWARD:
The Citizenship Award will be awarded to an individual whose leadership and dedication have greatly improved the services available to residents in Salem County with special needs. The nominee must be a resident of Salem County or an individual whose goals are primarily directed towards improving the quality of services for persons with special needs within Salem County.
COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD:
The Community Service Award will be given to a business, corporation, or organization located in or serving the special needs population in Salem County. The nominee should be one who has contributed to a better life for citizens with special needs in Salem County through on-going programs and/or creative events. This will be awarded to a business, facility, or organization that has shown leadership in serving this population.
“Good deeds are performed every day; we encourage everyone to submit a nomination for someone who meets the award criteria. The Crusader Award is an innovative award to recognize the efforts that are often done without the expectation of recognition,” stated Bob Vanderslice, Freeholder Chair of Health and Human Services Committee.

Completed nomination forms must be mailed to Office of Disabilities Services, 98 Market Street, Salem, NJ 08079. Nominee submission deadline is September 19, 2016.
