STRATFORD - By joining forces, two hospitals will be able to provide further care for its patients.
On Tuesday, Jefferson and Kennedy Health signed a definitive agreement to expand their existing partnerships in cancer care, neuroscience, and other medical fields.
Officials with both parties hope this integration will further benefit patients across the region.
Although their efforts go back to about five years, health care officials say their work has just begun.
"With the signing on the definitive agreement today, we embark together on a journey in the future where we bring our capabilities and our strengths to bare, to deliver to our communities and an even more exceptional health care experience for years to come," said Larry Merlis, EVP & COO. of Jefferson University & Jefferson Health.
With the definitive agreement in place, Kennedy and Jefferson will take the next steps toward finalizing the integration by filing for all necessary regulatory reviews and approvals.
The transaction is expected to be completed following New Jersey’s Community Health Care Assets Protection Act review process.
