VIDEO: New Jersey Dept. of Transportation Awards City $755,000 Grant
NEW JERSEY - A $755,000 dollar grant was awarded to Somers Point to benefit bike path improvements. The New Jersey Department of Transportation awarded the city the generous grant in an effort to widen the path and install energy efficient LED lighting. The mayor says the improvements will extend the entire length of the path to the Linwood Border. Back in 2015, the New Jersey Department of Transportation awarded Somers Point $171,000 dollars to build a 500 foot bike-way to connect the bike path to the Route 52 causeway. In an effort to keep bicyclists, walkers, and joggers safe, the city is also looking to the future as well by working on a future bike and pedestrian path, too. This path will connect Somers Point to Upper Township over the New Garden State Parkway Bridge. The mayor adds that all these improvements will give people another reason to visit Somers Point.
