The "Wedding of the Sea" is a longtime catholic tradition annually held in Atlantic City. And on Monday, many gathered to continue the Italian- American celebration. Monday’s celebration started with a mass celebrating the Assumption of Mary, It all started in Venice, Italy where residents would celebrate the relationship or marriage, between the sea and the city. In attendance today were many area residents, as well as Mayor Don Guardian and the Camden Diocese Bishop Dennis Sullivan. Following the mass, a procession to the beach took place, where a ceremonial wreath was tossed into the ocean, which is symbolic to a wedding band. And what's a marriage celebration without a party? Attendees, visitors, and locals were invited to a carnival-style festival at the Saint Michael’s church parking lot, which featured food vendors, a beer garden, and games for everyone.
