VIDEO: Unconfirmed Case of Legionnaires' Disease Reported in City of Camden
CAMDEN - The City of Camden is taking precautionary measures as a case of unconfirmed Legionnaires' disease has been reported. Legionnaires disease, also know as legionella pneumonia, may be affecting a city employee. City officials say that while the case is unconfirmed they have already begun working closely with the Camden County health office and the center for disease control and prevention to take measures to protect others. Although not required, the city has removed all staff from the building and closed the building where the employee had been working. Those facilities will be fully tested. It is not known where or when the employee may have contracted the illness. The elderly and those with weak immune systems are most at risk from the rare disease that spreads through the air. Residents looking for further information can check the City of Camden's website.
