Video: Ventnor to Observe International Overdose Awareness Day
VENTNOR, N.J. – Many are expected to observe International Overdose Awareness Day on the Ventnor Beach Wednesday. Speakers for Change, an addiction awareness group out of Galloway, is hosting the event. Organizers say it will be the first of its kind in Atlantic County, aimed at raising awareness of overdoses to reduce the stigma of drug-related deaths. International Overdose Awareness Day is a global event held on August 31st of each year, and organizers are inviting community members to the beach between Suffolk and Somerset Avenues in Ventnor to reflect and remember those lost due to addiction. Wednesday's event is set for 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m., and will go on rain or shine. Those planning to attend are asked to wear white to signify hope for others.
