Video: Grant Awarded to Rowan University's College of Engineering
GLASSBORO, N.J. – Hundreds of thousands of dollars were awarded to Rowan University to help students understand the role of the engineer in the environment. Congressman Donald Norcross announced a $300,0000 National Science Foundation, or NSF grant, for the university's college of engineering. Through a partnership with the Adventure Aquarium in Camden, Rowan researchers will conduct experiments potentially using algae as a renewable fuel source and in the treatment of wastewater. Researchers hope to use the findings to develop education materials for kindergarten through 12th-grade students. This NSF grant is the second for Rowan this summer. An almost $2 million grant was awarded in July to expand engineering opportunities to a more diverse student population.
