Video: Critically Injured Police Officer Receives Support From Community


ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – Community members and residents are showing their support for the Atlantic City Police Department after an officer remains in the hospital from critical injuries sustained during a shooting over the weekend.
A GoFundMe page titled "This Blue Life Matters" has been set up to help support 29-year-old Officer Joshlee Vadell, who is currently in critical but stable condition at Atlanticare, and his family.
The family released statement to thank those who have taken the time to help, saying:
"...take an opportunity to thank everyone who played a role in helping them through this extremely difficult time. The individuals who have donated their time and resources to the comfort of our family, as well as the capture of those responsible for this horrific crime are too numerous to name."
The department is thanking the community for their continued support, as the officer's condition has been upgraded from to critical but stable condition today.
The shooting incident happened at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning when two officers saw three men trying to rob three others near a parking garage at Caesars Casino.As one of the officers exited his vehicle he was shot and critically injured. The second officer returned fire and shot one of the suspects, who was later found dead.
Police have arrested 19-year-old Martell Chisholm of Millville and 28-year-old Demetrius Cross of Bridgeton in connection with the shooting.Both have been charged with attempted murder, robbery, and weapons offenses.
