Video: Savvy Shields Crowned Miss America 2017


ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – Savvy Shields took the crown as the new Miss America on Sunday night at Boardwalk Hall.
Shields represented Arkansas in the pageant and performed a jazz dance to a song from the TV show "Smash," for her talent, which garnered her a top award in the preliminary competition.
Shields was asked during her onstage interview what she thought of democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. She answered that while both Clinton and republican Donald Trump have done a good job thus far, but also gave an important caveat.
"They also need to watch what they're doing," said Shields.
Miss South Carolina Rachel Wyatt was the night's first runner-up. The second runner-up was Miss New York, Camille Sims, and the third runner-up was Miss Washington, Alicia Cooper.
