Video: Transparency Lacking on Tax Rates for Proposed North Jersey Casinos
TRENTON, N.J. – In November, residents will be allowed to vote on whether to approve new Casinos in North Jersey, but details on this issue haven't been transparent. Voters are being led to believe that if the approval for these casinos goes through, then millions of dollars in new funding to benefit senior citizens, horse racing, and Atlantic City will become available. Information on the tax rate the new casinos would pay and exactly how much new money will be made available for those programs has not been clearly defined. However, on Tuesday, State Assemblyman Ralph Caputo proposed specific tax rates for the potential new casinos.
