Video: Whale Found Dead on Jersey Shore Likely Due to Human Interaction
SEA ISLE CITY, N.J. – Officials believe a whale that washed ashore in Sea Isle City died due to human interaction. The Marine Mammal Stranding Center says a necropsy was done over the weekend on the emaciated 20-ton, 33-foot whale. The Brigantine Rescue Center says the whale may have been caught in fishing line at some point, causing an injury that left the mammal unable to eat. Officials also believe it was hit by a ship after it had died, and was in the water for several days before washing up on the beach Friday afternoon.
